Fifth Thursday

September 2016 has 5 Thursdays, which means that we have a week off from playing ukulele this coming Thursday.  However, if you still need your weekly ukulele fix, the Exbury Club is happy to welcome us to play in their convention room.  The format is up to whoever turns up, but we can play standard HUG repertoire, play some of Harry’s songs, do solo party pieces or otherwise entertain ourselves.  Usual start time 7.30 pm. The bar will be open, and there is a £1 temporary membership fee for non-members of Exbury.

Gateway Club gig

Those HUGGERS playing, and all are welcome including beginners, need to be at Gateway Club and set up in time for a sound check at 6.45 pm on 6 September 2016. Club members will arrive at 7.00 pm and we will kick of the gig about 10 minutes later. There will be a refreshment break at about 8.00 pm and a second set from about 8.20 to 8.45 pm.

For those who haven’t been before, Waterside Gateway Club is at Oak Lodge School, Roman Road, Dibden Purlieu, Southampton SO45 4RN.  The school is on the Applemore College campus: go past Applemore Recreation Centre and enter the first gate to the college – the school is on the left. Park anywhere.

The set list can be found HERE, but also be prepared to play Happy Birthday for anyone who is close to one.

Waterside Raft Race

Hythe Ukulele Group will be entertaining the crowds at Hythe Marina on 21 August 2016 at the annual Waterside Raft Race.  HUG will be playing in the gap between the penultimate and final races of the day and again between the last race and the prize giving.  So, if you are attending the raft race, stick around until the prize giving and join in the singing with HUG.

The start time in uncertain as it depends on the racing, but could be anytime from 2.30 pm onward and will go on to about 3.45 pm.

HUG members: we will probably play as many as 25 songs, so this list holds 29, which should cover contingencies. Depending on start time some may get skipped overor we may play even more, so have your “generic song list” available.

Weather warning – strong winds forecast for Sunday so take plenty of pegs to hold the music down.
