Our next gig will on 2 October be at Loretta Golden Oldies, Challis Court, Kings Street, SO14 3DQ: 1.30pm start and expecting to play about an hour. The set list for the gig has been published in the Members Only area, follow the Set List link.
Parking will be an issue. We have been promised 2 ticketed spaces. We will discuss car sharing at our 1 October practice session.
The set list for the practice session on 1 October has been posted in Members Only.
HUG’s Christmas Party will be at the Exbury Club on 11 December from about 19.30pm to 23.00pm. The Hall is booked and Woody and his band on stand-by.
The plan is for an American supper with the playing of Christmas songs/carols later on by those of you bringing instruments (for once you can bring other instruments you play, but no solo performance please) finishing the evening with Woody and his band.
At a later date, you will be given the choice of picking the food you would like to bring along from a “master list” to ensure there is variety.
The evening is gratis as Hug will pay for any decorations etc out of our subscription funds.
As we now have about 100 registered members of the club, we will have to restrict attendance to members and partners only, until we get some idea of numbers and then we may be able to open up attendance.
Please let Kaj know asap if you will be coming to ‘Hug’s Christmas Party’.
(Any offers of help appreciated as well).
The set list for the 17 September Practice Session is published in the Members Only area……and those going on the Portsmouth awayday need to pay up at that practice session.
My name is Mark Griffiths and I am one of the directors of a brand new ukulele festival happening this year in Portsmouth at the fantastic Kings Theatre, the Grand Southern Ukulele Festival. This is the largest ukulele festival to ever happen in the South of the UK and as you are relatively near I wanted to let you know about what we are doing. The Festival is happening between the 9th and 11th October 2015.
We have artists coming from all over the world including Aldrine Gurerro from Hawaii (the online face of ukulele underground), Victoria Vox from USA and Mike Hind from Bermuda plus many many more artists. Along side these fantastic performances we have several workshops available hosted by the professional ukulele players. The ability level of these workshops range from beginners to advance players so there is hopefully something for everyone to really get their teeth into. The weekend will also include Ukulele Stalls, Jam Sessions, Open Mics and a high end Ukulele Raffle.
Tickets are £44 – with concessions for students and families.
For more information please check out and feel free to share our website:
