About HUG

Hythe Ukulele Group

Practice sessions

HUG meets fortnightly on the first and third Thursdays of each month at
Hythe & Dibden Community Centre, 2 Brinton Lane, Hythe, SO45 6DU.
These practice sessions last from 7.30-9.30 pm with a break of tea, coffee and chat. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come and join us regardless of your competence on the ukulele.  Our skills range from absolute beginning to experienced musician and some Huggers can even sing!  There is convenient parking, which is free in the evening and sessions cost £2, first session free.

On the second and fourth Thursday of the month, a number of Huggers get together at the Exbury Club, Summer Lane, Exbury, Hampshire. SO45 1AH for an informal session usually focusing on an “old time” repertoire.  The session was set up to help beginners, but all with an interest in old-time music are welcome.  Cost £1 for non-members of the Exbury Club – licensed bar available.

HUG undertakes performances for charities and charitable events, such are fetes and fairs.  We will perform for other organisations provided a donation is made to a local charity or to one of the charities we support each year.  In 2016/7 we  supported the Gateway Club, the Handy Trust and the MS Society.  If you would like us to perform at your event, please use the form available from “Contact us” above.

  1. Great website! better than mine. Very professional and easier to navigate than the Facebook pages. Well done to all of you that have come up with this. Looking forward to adding this to my bookmarks and will use it as my main start point for all Uke matters.
    Thanks again! Steve

  2. Hi Tony I met and chatted with you last Saturday at the Waterside Festival, and checking out the website as suggested.. It looks like I can’t access the set list at the moment as I don’t have a password, but I guess I’ll find out if I turn up at the practice session this evening!
